Hello Wildcats! My name is Ms. Crystal Brown and I teach 8th grade science here at Sugar Creek Charter School. I am so excited to share my 14th year in education with the Wildcat community. I received my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physiology at Michigan State University. Here is a brief description of what to expect in 8th grade science:
8th grade middle school science integrates topics from the earth sciences, physical sciences, and life sciences each year. The middle school science curriculum focuses on the North Carolina Essential Standards for Science. Students examine “what” is known about the world around them, as well as “how” it has come to be known. All middle school science courses provide opportunities for scientific inquiry, exploration, observation, and investigation. The 8th grade science content includes:
- chemical properties of matter
- pathogens and disease
- energy resources
The materials that scholars will need to be successful throughout the year are 2 composition books, markers/crayons/colored pencils, earbuds, scissors and glue.
Let's make this a fantastic school year!
