Welcome to Sugar Creek Charter School Admissions
Thank you for your interest in Sugar Creek Charter School! We are a public charter school serving over 1,500 students throughout the Charlotte-metro area, dedicated to eradicating generational poverty by providing a rigorous education from kindergarten through 12th grade. We focus on academic preparation, college and career readiness, and essential life skills for success.

Admissions Standards
- Sugar Creek Charter School does not have an application fee or tuition.
- Students must be at least 5 years of age by August 31, 2024.
- The prospective student(s) or guardian must be a resident of North Carolina.
- Sugar Creek Charter School does not limit admission based on intellectual ability, achievement, aptitude, athletic ability, disability, race, creed, gender, national origin, religion, or ancestry.
Lottery Process
Depending on seat availability per grade level, prospective students will either be offered a seat or placed on the waitlist.
Enrollment & Registration
Families offered seats for the school year will have two weeks to respond to the offer. If a family declines the offer or does not respond within two weeks, the seat will be offered to the next family on the waitlist.
Accepted families must complete an enrollment application and provide the following documents:
- Government-issued ID of the parent or legal guardian
- Two proofs of NC residency
- Student’s birth certificate
- Most recent report card/transcript
- Copy of recent EOG scores
- Court/guardianship documents (if applicable)
- NC Health Assessment Form
- Updated immunization records
- Any IEP, 504, or behavioral plans
Failure to provide any of the required documents will result in the forfeiture of your child’s seat.
