Message from Principal:
Welcome Sugar Creek Charter Middle School Families. I am Brandy Morrison, your proud Middle School Principal. I am glad to now be a part of the Sugar Creek family. I have been in education for over 15 years. My experience began in mental health, and journeyed through early childhood development, substitute teaching, career and technical education teaching, dean of students, and assistant principal which has prepared me to lead here. Most of my public-school educational career has been in Middle School. I absolutely love working with this age group. It is such a critical time in their lives!
Sugar Creek Charter school has been in existence since 1999 and our Mission has never changed. Our middle school staff strives every day to be impactful about eradicating generational poverty for the lives of our students and families. The pillars that consistently move our students into success are the levels of support with data driven instruction, intentional culture building, and character education to prepare for life readiness. We believe that all students can learn as each student is held to our S.T.A.R. rule standards. Our adult core values: using deliberate practices, being all-in, doing whatever it takes, choosing positivity, and building a family like culture, are the soil for our pillars.
Middle School's Approach to Learning:
We believe that being intentional about our student and staff culture while using data such as informal and formal testing, in-class and homework assignments can drive our instructional practices allowing us to maximize your student's potential. Our goal is to use researched and differentiated best practices to ensure each student masters the material and is prepared for the End of Grade tests. We celebrate growth and utilize positive behavior intervention systems to foster a culture of restoration. We work in unity with our Exceptional Childrens, ESL and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support departments to provide individualized additional supports for students' academic needs. Our Student Support Services coupled with our Family Engagement team and community partners ensure your student has the opportunities and resources they need to be successful in and out of the classroom assisting with their social emotional needs to include mental health. Our holistic approach allows us to teach the whole child, each one in their own unique way!
SCCS Star Rules:
Our STAR rules are the heart of our expectations. They allow our students to be the best version of themselves each and every day. We uphold our students to a high standard because we know they have the power to meet and exceed their goals. We look forward to helping them reach their maximum potential.
