Hello scholars and parents, welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. My name is Zachary Levesque and I am the Health and Physical Education teacher for 9th-12th grade students. I am a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with degrees in Kinesiology and Psychology. The 2021-2022 school year will be my 7th year in education. Health Education- Individuals will take this course to better understand, and develop "Health Literacy" within their own lives. Students will use this knowledge of health literacy to take control of their own health providing a better quality of life. Health literacy is the ability to access, understand, appraise, apply and advocate for health information and services in order to maintain or enhance one's own health and the health of others.
Physical Education- Individuals will take this course to better understand, develop, and apply "Physical Literacy" within their own lives. Students will use this knowledge of physical literacy to take control of their own health in hopes of providing an overall higher quality of life. Physical literacy is the ability to move with competence and confidence in a wide variety of physical activities in multiple environments that benefit the healthy development of the whole person (mind and body).
Cardio and Core-Through a variety of different exercises, games, and student-created individualized workouts, students will have ample opportunity to strengthen and tone all major muscle groups with a direct focus on their Core (abdominal muscles). Participation in Cardiovascular exercises will promote calorie burning, flexibility and many other health benefits. Cardio and Core also helps build long, lean muscles and balances your strength with your flexibility. This class welcomes all levels fitness for all individuals.
