Welcome to Middle School Science at Sugar Creek Charter School.
I'm so excited to work with you this year as we begin your middle school journey. I teach 7th and 8th science. This is my fourth year as a middle school science teacher.
I graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. I obtained my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies (with concentrations in Biology and Elementary Education). I began teaching in 2011 and this is my first school year here with Sugar Creek Charter school. Go Wildcats!
I am a mom of two beautiful little girls. In my class, I promote a safe learning environment while cultivating young minds.
I welcome any questions or concerns as we navigate 7th and 8th grade.

8th Grade Course Description
Science Middle school science integrates topics from the earth sciences, physical sciences, and life sciences each year. The middle school science curriculum focuses on the North Carolina Essential Standards for Science. Students examine “what” is known about the world around them, as well as “how” it has come to be known. All middle school science courses provide opportunities for scientific inquiry, exploration, observation, and investigation.
The 8th grade science content includes:

pathogens and disease
evolution
hydrosphere
energy resources
ecosystems
