Meet the Teacher

Welcome back students and parents, to our 2022 – 2023 school year! My name is Ms. Jasmine Jeter and I will be teaching English/Language Arts (ELA) to our 5th graders this year. I am originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, however I have lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for sixteen years. I completed my undergraduate at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte where I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. When I am not in my teacher role, I spend lots of time with my daughter. We like to watch retro shows, like Sister, Sister and indulge in Harry Potter. I also enjoy cooking, trying new recipes, and writing.

As we begin the school year, remember we are in this together! We will stay united and be positive with each other throughout the year as we are challenged to learn and master new concepts and expand on previous years knowledge. All of us in the Wildcat family are ready to help each and every one of you succeed this school year! Do not hesitate to reach out to me if you need something. My contact and Remind information are below.

Thank you for your support in advance, It’s is going to be an awesome school year!

Ms. Jasmine Jeter

English/Language Arts Course Description:

They will have many opportunities to apply what they have learned through integration of language arts with other subjects. Students will use writing as a tool for learning, and they will write for a variety of purposes and audiences. They will write in a variety of genres. They will apply what they have learned about the author's craft to their own pieces. Fifth graders will increase their vocabulary by being involved in classroom discussion and word study. They will participate in oral discourse about a variety of topics, concepts, and texts. A key component of Grade 5 Reading is the expectation of appropriate grade level complexity in text choices.
